What is a Crystal?



 Crystals are enhancement items that can be attached to equipment. Considered consumables, crystals can be destroyed randomly when characters die, or while unequipping them. Part of TERA's
in-depth customization, crystals allow the player to emphasize the strengths of their class and preferred play-style or overcome the limitations of their class or situation.

Types of Crystals


Crystals are divided into two categories: armor and weapons. Weapon crystals (red) primarily offer offensive enhancements, while armor crystals (blue) provide support or defense. Crystals come in various degrees of rarity, with rarer crystals offering more powerful effects. As players increase in level, they will discover more cuts of crystals offering even more powerful versions of effects they've already seen. Crystals possess diverse features and may come into play under different conditions. Typical basic crystals simply increase HP or MP, but players will quickly find advantages in the diverse effects and conditional activations available

Conditional Activation


Some crystal effects only trigger under certain circumstances, but offer a bigger bonus. Basic movement crystals only enhance movement speed when out of combat. Others crystals may only activate due to knock-down, while fighting an enraged enemy, or when attacking the enemy from behind.
Knocked-down activations occur when a character (monster or PC) is knocked down due to a skill or a basic attack. Knocked-down characters are usually more vulnerable to their enemies' attacks. Some crystals offer bonuses when the PC knocks down the enemy and others activate when the PC is knocked down.
Attack from behind effects enhance the player’s attack power when attacking enemies from behind.
Enraged monsters have gone berserk. Some monsters, after being in prolonged combat, show signs of heightened aggression. Their attack and movement speed increases, as does their damage. Enraged monsters turn red, warning the player to take effective countering measures such as blocking or dodging. Some crystals also trigger additional defenses when an enemy is enraged.

Monster Size


TERA's monsters come in three sizes: small minion-like monsters, regular monsters, and formidable boss monsters. Certain crystals are effective only against a specific size of monster. By combining various crystals, players can mix and match the effects for combat in a location or situation. Below are a couple sample crystal combinations designed for use against different sized monsters:

 

  

Attack Crystals

Attack Crystals vary from continously regenerating your MP to higher critical strike probability and much more. They can be put into weapon slots.

  Mana Flow V Continuously recover 39 MP every 5 seconds
  Battle Speed V Increases your movement speed while in combat by 13
  Erupt V Recover MP over 5 seconds when you critically hit a target from behind
  Counterattack V Recover MP over 5 seconds when you knock down a target
  Vigilance V Increases your max MP by 228
  Grandeur of the Executioner V Increases damage when attacking monsters by 7%
  Dirty Blow V Increases the critical multiplier when attacking a target's rear by 1.08
  Executioner's Wrath V Increases the critical multiplier when attacking a normal sized monster from the rear by 1.24
  Wrath of the Challenger V Increases the critical multiplier when attacking a medium sized monster from the rear by 1.24
  Weak Point Strike V Temporarily increases your attack power when you critically hit a target from the rear
  Chance Opportunity V Temporarily increases your attack power when you knock down a target
  Ruthless V Increases the damage when attacking a knocked down target by 8.3%
  Ruthless V Causes a damage over time effect when you knock down a target
  Wrath of the Terminator V Increases the critical multiplier when attacking an enraged monster by 1.54
  Grandeur of the Challenger V Increases damage to medium sized monsters by 7%
  Grandeur of the Slaughter V Increases damage to small sized monsters by 8%
  Slayer's Wrath V Increases the critical multiplier when attacking small sized monsters by 1.32%
  Desperate Counterattack V Increases your damage when you have below 50% HP, by 8.6%
  Mortal Strike V Increases your critical multiplier when you have below 50% HP, by 1.42
  Assault of the Projection V Recover 73 MP when you hit a PC
  Precision Strike V Increases your critical strike probability by 2.7%
  Witch's Jewelry Increases your MP by 225. Socketed into weapons. Can not break upon death


 

Defense Crystals

Defense Crystals may increase your defense, heal over time like regenarating 32 HP every five seconds or increase your maximum health. Defensive Crystals can be put into armor slots.
  Name Description
  Blessing of the Gods V When knocked down or interrupted, there is a 50% chance to create a damage shield
  Calming Commitment V Reduces damage from enraged monsters by 7.6%
  Calming Response V When knocked down by an enraged monster, a damage shield is created
  Challenger's Strength V When knocked down by a medium sized monster there is a 15% chance for a damage shield to be created
  Challenger's Will V Reduces damage from medium sized monsters by 7%
  Endurance V Increases maximum HP by 2484
  Executioner's Hope V When knocked down by a normal sized monster, there is a 10% chance to recover HP over 5 seconds
  Executioner's Will V Damage taken from normal sized monsters is reduced by 7%
  Final Stand V Reduces the chance of being critically hit, when at below 50% HP, by 8.5%
  Final Will V Reduces damage taken, when at below 50% HP, by 8.5%
  Flow of Recovery V Continuously recover 166 HP every 5 seconds
  Hand of Salvation V When knocked down there is a 50% chance to recover HP over 5 seconds
  Killer's Commitment V Reduces damage from small sized monsters by 8%
  Projection of Justice V Recover 95 MP when hit by a PC
  Speed of Peace V Increases movement speed by 27 when not in combat
  Vampire's Jewelry Increases you HP by 897. Socketed into armor. Can not break upon death
